Joseph P. Winberry, OD
Joseph Winberry, Jr., O.D. is a native of northern New Jersey and graduated from Neumann Prep High School in Wayne, He earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in chemistry from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. While at Dickinson, he was an active member and Secretary of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. After his undergraduate studies, he spent a year at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas studying. photochemistry of the retina. In 1987, he earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Winberry maintained a private practice as an optometrist for 20 years in Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg, PA.
Dr. Winberry served as President of the Central Pennsylvania Optometric Society and Secretary-Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association (POA) In 1991 he was voted, “Optometrist of the Year” by his local peers. Amateur astronomy and photography are hobbies for Dr. Winberry. He served as President of the Astronomical Society of Harrisburg. He is President of the White Rose Motorcycle Club, Spring Grove, PA. Also, an active member of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMCA) and a field judge at local antique motorcycle shows in the U.S. The game of golf has been a part of his life since the age of 11 years old.
