Jon M. Lampkin, MD
Jon M. Lampkin, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist with expertise in cataract surgery and LASIK. Dr. Lampkin graduated from Oglethorpe University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. As a senior he was awarded the school’s LeConte Award, given to the most outstanding senior in a Math or Science major.
Dr. Lampkin then graduated from the Emory University School of Medicine. He completed his internship year at the Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh, followed by a three-year-long ophthalmology residency at the UPMC – University of Pittsburgh Eye and Ear Institute.
Dr. Lampkin has more than two decades of experience in treating ocular diagnoses such as cataract, diabetes, glaucoma, dry eyes and macular degeneration, in addition to the diagnosis of systemic diseases with ocular manifestations. He has extensive experience performing cataract surgery and LASIK with an excellent record of surgical safety and post-operative visual outcomes.
He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Lampkin has traveled to Honduras to perform charity cataract surgery and has performed cataract surgery in India. Dr. Lampkin worked as a computer programmer for several years before going to medical school. As such, he enjoys working with the high-tech instruments and methods that ophthalmologists use in service of precise and predictable results for maximum patient satisfaction.
